JAKARTA, 10 December 2018 – Three hundred participants of National Public Relations Convention 2018 attended the PR Convention 4.0 and were welcomed by the President of Republic Indonesia Mr. Jokowi at the Presidential Palace. The President gave a speech on the challenges of PR in the future especially in the era of digital technology.
PR Convention 4.0 itself was held by Indonesia Public Relations Association in collaboration with 10 other social organizations such as ASPIKOM, ISKI, BAKOHUMAS, and FORUM HUMAS BUMN. It was a 2 day event in which, after the opening by President Jokowi, the convention moved to the Ballroom Djakarta Theatre with other topics and agendas to discuss, such as, Goverment PR Transformation, Personal Branding and Reputation in 4.0 era, Media Landscape in Digital Era, and Role of PR 4.0 to Encourage Millennials.
Head of the PR Convention 4.0, Benny S Butarbutar said that the involvement of the President of Indonesia is such an honor. He stated “It means that our President is concerned about the PR profession. Furthermore, Indonesia 4.0 is also an encouragement that needs to be shown by goverment. So, it is a good moment for the President to deliver his vision about the future of Public Relations.”
Chairman of Indonesia PR Association, Agung Laksama, also attended the event and stated that this convention is a good moment for all Public Relations practitioners to explore more of their inner skills. Hopefully, in the near future, PR practitioner in Indonesia will be able to create some innovative methods to face the distruption era, especially to enhance the self-competence to prepare Indonesia to face the global economic power in 2030.
