Padang, February 9, 2018 – To Commemorate National Press Day 2018, STIKOM – The London School of Public Relations (Jakarta) will provide scholarships to journalists and families of Indonesian journalists. A total of 590 scholarships will be given for programs in LSPR Undergraduate Program (S1) at LSPR Transpark Juanda, Postgraduate program (S2), Entrepreneur and vocational courses at the LSPR campus in Jakarta and Bali.
LSPR Transpark Juanda, has majors in Mass Media Communication, Digital Media Communication & Advertising and Performing Arts Communication with Mass Media Communication divided into two concentrations: Broadcast Journalism supported by Salford University in Manchester and Digital Film Making & Photography Communication in collaboration with the New York Film Academy.
“This scholarship program aims to improve the academic potential and competence of journalists. And the momentum of National Press Day is the right moment to deliver this special gift and concern to the press, “said Prita Kemal Gani, MBA and MCIPR founder and Director of STIKOM LSPR.
Prita said the scholarship program will take place for about three years, and is valid from the MOU signing between LSPR and the Indonesian Journalist Association (PWI) in Padang, West Sumatra during the celebration of National Press Day 2018.
“All the scholarship recipients will be selected by PWI Center. The detail requirements, include rights and obligations during the education program and after completion of the study period”, said Prita. The total educational scholarship is worth Rp 17.650.000.000.
Prita expressed her concern because of her background as the daughter of a journalist and as the wife of Kemal Effendi Gani, Editor-in-Chief and general leader of SWA Magazine. The program is in consideration of the historical value between STIKOM LSPR and PWI.
“So I will not only provide educational assistance for journalists, but I was also moved to provide entrepreneurial skills (entrepreneurship) for the wives and widows of journalists who are members of the Association of Indonesian Journalists (IKWI)’, said Prita.
Head of Education PWI Center, Marah Sakti Siregar said, PWI appreciates the scholarships given by founder STIKOM-LSPR Jakarta, Prita Kemal Gani, MBA, MCIPR, APR. “This is the largest and the most complete scholarship program for Indonesian journalists and their families”, said Marah Sakti Siregar.
He said, hopefully this scholarship program can improve the competence and journalistic performance of journalists in Indonesia in the future, especially integrity. Furthermore, he said more information regarding the scholarship program can be obtained at PWI or through the journalist’s internal media.
London School of Public Relations – Jakarta, established on 1 July 1992, is a private university that conducts a communication science degree program which is divided into six concentrations of choice, namely Public Relations, International Relations, Marketing, Mass Communication, Digital Media Communication & Advertising and Performing Arts Communication, as well as a postgraduate program that is divided into four concentrations: Corporate Communication, Marketing Communication, International Relations Communication and Mass Media Management. On 9 November 2016, LSPR received a Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Number 345 / M / KPT / 2016 regarding the Implementation of Distance Education with the scope of a Communication Studies course. LSPR also received three awards from KEMENRISTEK DIKTI on 30 November 2016 with the title of First rank in Higher Institution for Institutional Aspects, Rank I in Higher Institution for Student Aspect and Rank II in Higher Institution for Engineering Aspects.
