November 9th, 2015 – ASEAN Public Relations Network team attended the Opening Ceremony and Lunch Reception for the “Oil Painting Exhibition on Re-tracing the Commercial Ties and People-to-People Connectivity of ASEAN-China Relations—Perspectives of a Painter” at the ASEAN Secretariat Jakarta, Indonesia. The previous exhibitions have taken place in Thailand and Malaysia, these exhibitions features the masterpieces of Mr. FengShaoxie. He is the vice-president of the Guangdong Academy of Painting and is a renowned oil painter in China. His series of works on “Maritime Silk Road” is a true pictorial record. The opening remarks were made by H.E. VongthepArthakaivalvatee, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN and H.E. Xu Bu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN. “As we usher to the launching to the ASEAN community at the end of 2015, it is significant to find out that people to people exchange through arts and culture is one of the aims of the ASCC Blueprint 2025” mentioned H.E. VongthepArthakaivalvatee during the opening speech. He also stated “Today’s exhibition can be seen as the extension of the 2014 ASEAN – China cultural exchange year, the success of last year’s event shows that people to people contact can be enhanced by more cultural and art exchanges. I believe that each and every painting has its own story which will enable us to have a greater understanding of the lives of how people live”.

H.E. Xu Bu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN delivered the opening speech by saying “This is the first canvas painting exhibition co-hosted by the mission of china and asec in this building”.
