Global Alliance, October 11, 2023: In light of the recent attacks in the Middle East and other conflicts around the world, the leadership of the Global Alliance for Public Relations & Communication Management makes an urgent call to cease the attacks from all sides and avoid an unwanted war that is escalating, leaving innocent victims while promoting greater polarization.
In times of conflict like the ones, in which they are living, the role of public relations practitioners is to be agents of change, to promote dialogue, understanding, and mutual adjustment. They strongly believe despite our differences they can always find common ground to live in harmony respecting each other.
They firmly oppose disinformation, polarization, violence and war. At Global Alliance they support United Nations statement by Secretary- General, António Guterres, who recently said “It’s time to end this vicious circle of bloodshed, hatred and polarization. Only a negotiated peace that fulfills the legitimate national aspirations of Palestinians and Israelis alike can bring long-term stability”.
At this difficult time, our thoughts are with the people of all countries facing attacks and violence of any kind, and with all the innocent victims these conflicts will sadly leave all over the world. At the same time, they wish a safe passage to all our media colleagues in the field and also stand in support of the public relations and communication professionals working among critical conditions to perform with excellence at what they do best, which is to find common ground and promote the greater good.
During the recent World Public Relations Forum, celebrated in Chennai, India, they made a call for solidarity, allyship and peace among nations, and specially for the family of thousands of people killed in Africa and other countries affected last month by natural disasters.
Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.
Martin Luther King Jr.
If you want peace you do not talk to your friends, you talk to your enemies.
