Bali, Indonesia, 4th June 2022: The ASEAN PUBLIC RELATIONS NETWORK (APRN) in collaboration with INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP ASSOCIATION and LSPR COMMUNICATION AND BUSINESS INSTITUTE held the INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE in Association with ILA on 4th June 2022 at Trans Resort, Bali, Indonesia and via virtual ‘zoom meeting’. International speakers were invited to share their knowledge and expertise on Leadership and Communication. Other than the conference, scholars and academicians also joined in the call for papers.
The conference started with welcoming remarks from Dr. (H.C.). Prita Kemal Gani, MBA, MCIPR, APR, President of ASEAN PR Network and CEO & Founder of LSPR Communication and Business Institute, followed by the ceremonial sounding of the ‘gong’ with VVIP Guests to officially open the event. This was followed with opening remarks and a presentation by Professor Mike Hardy CMG OBE FRSA, Chairman of International Leadership Association & Founder and Director of the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations, Coventry University, UK. Dr Cynthia Cherrey, the President and CEO of International Leadership Association and Professor Kevin Lowe, Board Member of International Leadership Association and Professor of Leadership, University of Sydney attended the conference online as representatives from International Leadership Association.
Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, B.B.A., M.B.A., the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia also took part as keynote speaker. There were also remarks by Prof. Dr. Ir. Tjok Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati, M.Si, the Vice Governor of Bali, and closing remarks by Usman Kansong, S.Sos., M.Si, the Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics. Also invited were H.E. Mr. Tantowi Yahya, the 14th Ambassador of Indonesia to New Zealand, and H.E Desra Percaya, the Ambassador of Indonesia to United Kingdom, for the Ambassador Talk session.
The conference presented 2 (two) panel discussions. The Academic Leaders session speakers included Dr. I Made Sudjana as the Rector of Institute of International Business and Tourism, Dr. Andre Ikhsano, M.Si as the Rector at LSPR Communication & Business Institute, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Anastasia Sulistyawati, M.S., M.M., M.Mis., D.Th., Ph.D, D.Ag. as Director of Bali International Polytechnic. The Asia Pacific PR Leaders session resource speakers included Jaffri Amin Osman MIPR, FIPR, FAPR, MCIPR as Chair for Global Alliance Asia -Pacific & Vice President at Institute PR Malaysia, Boy Kelana Soebroto as Chairman PERHUMAS & Head of Corporate Communications Astra International, Dato’ Sri Haji Ibrahim Abdul Rahman as President of Institute PR Malaysia, My Nguyen Khoa as Chair of Vietnam PR Network, Norman Agatep as Global Alliance Asia Pacific Council Member and Former President of PR Society of the Philippines, Fiona Cassidy as Chair of Public Relations Institute of New Zealand and Koh Juat Muay as President of Institute Public Relations Singapore. Last but not least was a session on Women Leaders in Business with Vina A. Muliana, who is the Winner for Best of Learning & Education Category in the Tik Tok Awards Indonesia 2021.
The conference was filled with so many insightful and inspiring discussions between the speakers and participants from different professions and different countries. The selected participants of Call for Papers will be published in Journal SINTA 2 such as Journal Ikatan Sarjana Komunikasi Indonesia (ISKI), Journal Ilmu Komunikasi UPN Yogyakarta, Journal Kajian Komunikasi Padjadjaran University, and Journal Profesi Humas Padjadjaran University.
Ibu Prita Kemal Gani stated, “Today’s conference will mark the beginning of this mission. We will continue to create dialogues and round table conversations among notable leaders in their fields, and we want you all to join us on every occasion of learning with them. And as John F. Kennedy said, ‘Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other…’ and so we will provide you more opportunities of learning and networking in days to come.”
Professor Mike Hardy also mentioned that, “There has never been a more important time to promote a thriving global leadership network -individuals and organisations working in every sector, discipline, and profession across the globe with a deep commitment to the practice of leadership that will help shape a better future for us all. Making sense of our complex world, making a difference through positive actions and strengthening communications are the key themes of this welcome International Leadership Conference in partnership with the world leading International Leadership Association.”
The conference ended with the launching of the International Leadership Association (ILA) Asia Pacific Chapter inviting leaders from around Asia Pacific to join and be a member of this International organisation.
