Greetings from ASEAN PR Network!

The whole world’s eyes and ears are on the series of sporting events being held this year 2018, after the success of the recently held World Cup in Russia. Indonesia has been preparing extremely hard for the upcoming 18th Asian Games that will be held in Jakarta and Palembang. Preparations have been going on since last year with the renovation of the old sports facilities and the construction of new infrastructures being timely built to support and host the Asian Games. This is not the first time Indonesia has hosted the Asian Games, the first was in 1962, and after 56 years Indonesia will once again host this exciting event. This will definitely be a great opportunity once again to strengthen Indonesia’s National Pride and uplift Indonesia in the International Community and the surrounding region though hosting the much awaited ASIAN Games.

The 18th Asian Games will start the day after Indonesia celebrates its 73rd Independence Day on August 17, 2018. The Asian Games start on August 18 to September 2, 2018 with records showing that there will be more or less 20,000 delegates and athletes arriving in Indonesia marking the biggest number of participants in Asian Games records.

As Indonesia takes pride in hosting this event, we at LSPR will share the glorious moments as we support the Asian Games, as LSPR Jakarta is part of the 10 University Partners who were chosen by Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee and International Games Broadcast Services to participate and support the Asian Games. To take part in the Legacy Programme from IGBS, 250 LSPR students applied and signed up and 110 students successfully passed the interview, with two of them coming from London School Beyond Academy our inclusive school for Autism and Special Needs students.

Also one month after the 18th Asian Games, Indonesia will also be the host for the ASEAN Autism Games, South East Asia’s Special Needs Sports Competition that will be held on October 20-21, 2018 at GOR Soemantri Brodjonegoro Kuningan in collaboration with ASEAN Autism Network, Yayasan Autism Indonesia, LSPR and London School Cares for Autism Awareness.

Indeed, we welcome August 2018 with excitement and full of spirit of sportsmanship, knowing it is a game, and it is not only about winning or losing but it’s all about us giving 100 percent. Exciting sports events await us all in Wonderful Indonesia.
