Kuching – Sarawak, Malaysia: AIFFA gives birth to ASUS Film: ASEAN SDG UNIVERSITY SHORT Film competition

The project was developed in response to a call for action by ASEAN universities to respond to the call and mandate of UN Sustainable Development Goals. ASUS aims to maximize the impact of University students’ creativity in promoting and creating awareness about the SDG and to learn and share best practices amongst ASEAN Universities and the YOUTH.

Participating Universities across the ASEAN region will understand the importance of global challenges such as equality, the environment, human and civil rights, and the need to raise awareness of these issues within ASEAN as One Identity and One Community with a strong VOICE.

Identified in 2015, the 17 U.N. Sustainable Development Goals were the product of Resolution 70/1 of the United Nations General Assembly.

UN Mandates for the SDG must be completed by 2030. The U.N. SDG’s aim is to end world hunger, improve healthcare and the provision of education, resolve gender inequality, provide clean water and sanitation, protect the environment, develop affordable energy, create decent work, and to facilitate social justice and peace.

ASUS aims to identify the GAP in creating awareness for the SDG among the Youth by targeting University students to give their views on how they understand and how they can contribute to resolving such issues. The youth of today must learn to first identify these SDGs and create conscious movements through visuals and storytelling.

Submissions must be posted online on YouTube and adhere to the technical specifications that have been decided and stated. Also, all languages from around the world are welcome, but English subtitles are required for content/ indigenous language interviews.
